Can I get help paying for advice?

Many of the organisations in the Directory will offer some or all of their services for free; others may make a charge for their services such as solicitors in private practice. Details of the organisation in the hereforadvice Directory include a section about charges.

As a general rule, most solicitors in private practice will charge for their services but may offer a free period of consultation.

However, you may be eligible for help with costs from the Legal Services Commission schemes (Legal Aid):

  • The Community Legal Service (CLS) Fund
  • The Criminal Defence Service (CDS) Fund

For further information about the Legal Aid schemes go to the Legal Services Commission website.

Remember, when you contact an organisation for advice ask about their charges and if you take any action on the matter ask what are the cost implications.

Find details about the Legal Aid schemes on this site.
